TWIN ELECTRIC BUS TO THE DEFENCE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
TWIN ELECTRIC BUS A DIFESA DELL'AMBIENTE
The Twin Electric Bus is a bimodal electric vehicle for urban areas, which operates from overhead power lines, or independently of them powered by high density sodium sulphur batteries. The change to autonomous mode is automatic in the case of power failure or voltage drop, or it can be selected at will by the driver. Since the sodium sulphur batteries are recharged during power line operation, the vehicle is completely flexible and capable of cyclic operation. Auxiliary services (internal lighting etc) are supplied by a separate 24 V service battery. Coachwork, mechanical structure, electrical equipment and internal fittings are described. (TRRL)
