DETERMINATION OF DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR WITH AERIAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY

This article describes a method for determining the deformation behaviour of the earth fill and adjacent areas during the widening of the Dutch state road A16. This method uses aerial photogrammetry. With this technique the collection of data on the deformation is done by taking photos of the field from the air. The location of points on the photos is recorded by co-ordinates for incorporation into digital terrain models. This article describes the process of aerial photogrammetry and discusses the experiences gained with this method on a test section on the A16. From these experiences some important advantages of aerial photogrammetry emerged, such as the precision and flexibility of the system, and decreased traffic disruption. (TRRL)
