STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF THICK PLATE AND VOIDED THICK PLATE ON AN ELASTIC FOUNDATION

This paper gives a finite prism superposition solution for a rectangular thick plate and a voided thick plate on an elastic foundation. The simply supported and sliding clamped structures are taken as the basic structure. Since the stiffness matrices in this method often have a very narrow bandwidth, the finite prism analysis is much simpler than the analysis of three-dimensional finite element method by less calculation and storage requirements. Three prism elements: rectangular four-node-line prism, triangular three-node-line prism and eight-node-line isoparametric prism are presented. A computer program has been developed and the calculation results are verified by test data. (TRRL)
