THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
The Institute of Transportation Engineers' recent overall membership growth, and the increasing numbers of young people among them are noted. The growth will make the organization a dynamic one that will meet the challenges that face the profession. To successfully involve younger members in the Institute, three things are necessary: capturing of the interest of the youthful members; generating employer support for their involvement; and encouraging their participation at the local section and chapter level. The benefits to be gained from participation in ITE are noted, and ways in which employer support may be generated are described. The need to identify future leaders and provide them with opportunities to participate and grow into future leadership positions is noted.
