JOBS, HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION: THEORY AND EVIDENCE ON INTERACTIONS BETWEEN LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION

This conference resource paper focuses on the demand for transportation as determined by land use and demographics, with primary focus on issues involved in connecting origins with destinations. The paper begins with a discussion of transportation-land use theory, focusing on residential and business location choice. It then summarizes key findings of empirical studies on the land use and urban development impacts of transit and highways.
