SAFETY. CARRIER ACCESS TO DRIVER REGISTER
The Washington-based National Driver Register (NDR) is a computerized list of drivers who have had license applications denied, have had their licenses revoked, or have been convicted of serious violations without losing their licenses. The article defines a 'serious violation,' and notes that the National Highway Administration mandates that all states participate in the Register. NHTSA provides optional carrier access to the NDR as an aid to screening driver applicants. The article describes how this may be done.
