MODEL FOR CYCLIC COMPRESSIVE BEHAVIOR OF BRICK MASONRY

A geometrical model for the uniaxial cyclic compressive behavior of brick masonry is presented. The model determines several focal points in the uniaxial stress-strain plane based on the geometrical properties of the experimental cyclic stress-strain curves, from which a common-point cuurve, a stability-point curve, plastic-strain curves, and multilinear reloading/unloading curves can be determined. The test results used in this paper are based on an experimental program conducted on brick masonry specimens 700 x 230 mm constructed with bricks 230 x 110 x 70 mm and a 10 mm thick bed joint mortar. The model facilitates the reproduction of these curves without accompanying calculations.
