UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES: DESIGN AND INSTRUMENTATION

The aim of the book is to provide the most current information on the design aspects of underground structures. The structure may be a shaft, tunnel, or cavern. Only items of utmost importance which will improve the quality of the final designed produce, in the most cost effective way, are included. Sections are provided on design methods, focussing mainly on mathematical modelling, rock reinforcement, rock burst, shotcrete tunnel lining, water and instrumentation. Separate chapters are also provided on the design and analysis of underground structures in swelling and squeezing rocks through seismic zones, and in soft ground. Some construction methods are also discussed. (TRRL)
