ALTERNATIVE TO BLASTING BREAKS NEW GROUND
This article discusses a simple two-part system that has been developed to break rock and similar materials safely and economically, without blasting or the use of chemical demolition agents. The "Core Cracker" (trademark) system is totally controlled, quiet and can be more cost effective than blasting. Also, it doesn't require government permits or licenses for use, even in densely populated areas. Potential applications for the Core Cracker include dams (example given in insert with this article), nuclear storage sites, mass rock reduction and removal in mining, civil engineering sites in downtown areas, road building and demolition, and other sites where explosives or chemicals are not ideal.
