BUCKLING OF FRAMES UNDER VARIOUS TORSIONAL LOADINGS

This is an investigation which attempts analytical studies on the buckling of space frames, based directly on the governing differential equations, joint equilibrium and continuity conditons, and geometric and natural boundary conditions. The fundamental aspects of a 3-dimensional buckling analysis are highlighted through the study of an angled frame. Analysis results indicate that a frame's buckling load can be very sensitive to the way the torque is applied. The validity of the present results have been confirmed for a limited number of special cases.
