LMC OVERLAY FOR O'HARE AIRPORT PARKING GARAGE ROOF
The article describes the repair of the roof deck of the O'Hare airport parking garage with a styrene butadiene latex-modified concrete (LMC) overlay during 1990. The styrene butadiene LMC was selected based on the material's resistance to chloride penetration, surface druability, and ability to bond to the existing base. The logistical challenges of the restoration of the 500,000 sq ft structure are briefly described. The equipment used and the technique employed are also summarized.
