This note describes how Precinct Four in Tarrant County, Texas stabilized 1.8 million square feet of roadbase material using a newly patented product, at a cost of about $18,570. The material called EN 1 was implemented using conventional road-building techniques. Details of the implementation are briefly summarized. The roadway was scarified, a premeasured volume of the substance was sprayed, and then rolled several times. Once the product was incorporated in the base, it dissolved the crystalized mineral. In a short time, the surface cured and became hard and smooth because the minerals had recrystalized to form a virtually poreless chemical bond between the remaining aggregate.
