A LONGITUDINAL COMPARISON OF BICYCLE AND MOPED USE BY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
This article discusses the results of a survey questionnnaire of bicycle and moped riders conducted on the University of Hawaii's Manoa campus during the fall of 1988. Moped usage by university students exhibited a phenomenal increase since the original survey conducted ten years previous to this one. This information should be useful to those concerned with the following areas: (1) general trends in modal choice of commuting students; (2) the degree to which bicycles and mopeds are used; (3) the effect of this use on other modes; and (4) major problems reported by bicyclists and moped riders.
