This article describes a new Austrian tunnelling record established at the Heinfels hydro scheme in Ost-Tirol. This record was established with a Robbins TBM type 1014-250. This machine has a diameter of 3.2 m and an array of 24-17 in disc cutters. The best performance was 104.5m in 22 hours -- a record achievement, especially in quartz-phyllite layers. Lining details of the tunnel and the contractor's strategy are discussed.
