FREEWAY OPERATIONS PROJECTS: NORTH AMERICAN INVENTORY UPDATE

The purpose of this report is to provide an up-to-date inventory of Freeway Operations projects in the United States and Canada. This report updates and expands on two previous editions (1962 and 1986). The report is organized as follows: Introduction and Location of Projects; Trends and Developments; Summary Tables; and Inventory Reports. The summary tables contain information on various aspects of each of the freeway operations projects according to the following classifications: spot location projects; linear projects; mini-corridor projects; corridor projects; area projects; projects in operation; projects in design or planning stages; projects under construction; projects no longer in operation; bridge/tunnel surveillance projects; high occupancy vehicle (HOV) projects; ramp metering projects; closed circuit television (CCTV) projects; changeable message sign projects; highway advisory radio (HAR) projects; in-vehicle guidance projects; and service patrol projects. The individual inventory report sheets for each of the projects are presented in alphabetical order by state or province. The inventory sheets summarize responses to a questionnaire (shown in the Appendix). Where available, maps are included showing project location. A contact person is given for each project.
