DRIVING SIMULATORS AND BEHAVIOURAL TRAVEL RESEARCH

In this paper some brief comments on the issues which are raised by the development of a realistic driving simulator at the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds are discussed. The authors identify three distinct classes of problem to which the simulator is potentially applicable: (1) in-vehicle behaviour issues; (2) driving behaviour issues; and (3) travel behaviour issues.
