IN-DEPTH VEHICLE OCCUPANT REPORT

The University of Michigan In-depth Vehicle Occupant Report (UMIVOR) is a form for the field recording of vehicle damage and occupant injuries sustained in motor vehicle traffic accidents. The report was developed by UMTRI as a new concept in accident reporting which includes, in part, modified portions of current reporting forms. The report is designed to be used primarily far passenger cars, light trucks, and vans. It is modular in nature so that future modifications of the format can be made easily by adding new modules or by dropping old ones. Provisions have been made in the administrative module to include optional user-defined elements. The report is also designed for data entry and computerization with specific module identifiers and column numbers. All measurements are recorded in metric units. The current format of the report is the result of extensive internal development, discussions with many end-user groups, and operational use in actual field situations. The report is accompanied at UMTRI by an interpretation/documentation manual and computer programs to produce working data sets from field recorded data.
