VISION FOR THE USERS OF SHRP PRODUCTS. STRATEGIC HIGHWAY RESEARCH PROGRAM PRODUCTS. PROCEEDINGS OF A SPECIALTY CONFERENCE SPONSORED BY THE HIGHWAY DIVISION OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AND THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION. DENVER MARRIOTT CITY CENTER HOTEL, DENVER, COLORADO, APRIL 8-10, 1991
The highly focused SHRP effort has brought together a broad array of skilled practitioners and researchers concentrating on a limited set of problems. The solutions developed offer improved design, rehabilitation, and preventive mainternace methods and materials; more efficient equipment; improved testing and analysis procedures; and better crew assignment and safety. Implementation of these results will save money for state agencies. These savings are needed to protect the significant public investment in the existing road system, and to address other challenges. The rigorous nature of the SHRP research, and its national and international scope will lend credibility to the results. This will help justify budget requests to state legislators. SHRP's success will encourage similar efforts in infrastructure rehabilitation, safety, environmental protection, traffic management, and multimodal transportation systems.
