METHODOLOGY OF GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS WITH ROCK CLASSIFICATION FOR TUNNELS ON THE FUTURE KARLOVAC-RIJEKA MOTORWAY ALIGNMENT. PROCEEDINGS - 1ST YUGOSLAV SYMPOSIUM ON TUNNELS, VOLUMES 1 AND 2

METODOLOGIJA GEOTEHNICKIH ISTRAZIVANJA SA KLASIFIKACIJOM STIJENSKIH MASA ZA TUNELE NA TRASI BUDUCE AUTOCESTE KARLOVAC-RIJEKA

The paper describes the methodology of geotechnical investigations, i.e. Rock mechanics investigations, in situ and laboratory geophysical tests, engineering and geological investigations and hydrogeological studies for eight road tunnels on the future karlovac-rijeka motorway alignment. These investigations were performed in order to enable rock classification according to bieniawski (an empirical approach) for design and construction of tunnels and to make possible computation of the geotechnical models (an analytical approach). The results obtained from these investigations enable the forecasting of the behaviour of these structures both during construction and their use.
