ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF NOISE REDUCTION TREATMENTS. NOISE INTO THE NINETIES; PROCEEDINGS OF THE 1988 ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE AUSTRALIAN ACOUSTICAL SOCIETY, VICTOR HARBOUR, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, NOVEMBER 24-25, 1988
This paper describes a method for modelling a traffic noise barrier, to assess its economic viability. other principal conclusions are that: (1) the value of a decibel rise or fall approximately doubles for each 10dba rise in the initial noise level. (2) the value of any loss of the motorists' view should be taken into account, as this is usually much greater than the cost of providing the barrier. for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 829724.
