PRINCIPLES OF TRAFFIC LIGHTING

GRONDSLAGEN VAN DE VERKEERSVERLICHTING

Technical requirement for road lighting and vehicle lighting can be derived from the criteria that a road user must reach his destination safely, quickly, comfortably and at minimum cost. Thus the functional requirements are the perception of objects. It is shown that the technical requirements of the lighting are associated with photometry and geometry, subdivided into visual guidance, average surface luminance, uniformity of the luminance pattern and the limitation of glare. On the base of these requirements recommendations can be given for the technical and structural execution of traffic lighting. /TRRL/
