IMPLEMENTING A PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY IN QUEENSLAND DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT . 28TH ARRB REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM, TOOWOOMBA, QUEENSLAND. PROGRAM AND PAPERS

The Department of Transport (formerly Main Roads) has adopted a strategy for developing and implementing pavement management, which extends into the mid 1990s. The paper describes the current state of progress towards PMS implementation in Districts, all of which will receive PMS database installations (CORS or MPDS) during 1990. The PMS data collection strategy has included completion of statewide roughness and visual condition surveys during 1989, providing a large nucleus of current condition data which each District will receive with their database systems. The paper addresses ways in which CORS will begin to improve pavement management practices in Districts. The federal ACRD legislation has introduced requirements for PMS for National Highways. These requirements are fully satisfied in substance and in timing by the PMS development strategy (A). For the covering record of the Symposium, see IRRD number 823018.
