INTERPRETATION OF PORE PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS FROM ADVANCED CONE PENETRATION TESTING. PENETRATION TESTING IN THE UK. PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOTECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AND HELD IN BIRMINGHAM ON 6-8 JULY 1988
Results from triple element piezocone tests at four North Sea sites are interpreted with respect to pore pressure correction of measured data, pore pressure distribution and undrained shear strength. It is concluded that correction of measured data for pore pressure and geometry effects is significant. For single element piezocones recommended location of the filter is behind the cone. Application of effective stress principles gives a promising way of interpreting undrained shear strength from piezocone penetration tests.(A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 828222.
