FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CONE PENETRATION. PENETRATION TESTING IN THE UK. PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOTECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AND HELD IN BIRMINGHAM ON 6-8 JULY 1988
Many methods exist for interpreting shear strength from cone resistance in sands. The paper reviews the methods available and recommends methods of merit. Finite element analyses of cone penetration are described and the results compared with predicted values. Further comparisons with field data are presented and recommendations made for use in design.(A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 828222.
