Session IV of the Bridge Scour Symposium focused on scour protection. The three papers presented at this session discuss various methods used to protect against bridge scouring and the results obtained. The papers are as follows: Scour Surveying and Countermeasures in Massachusetts, L. Bedingfield and N.M. Hourani; Sediment Control in Bridge Waterways, A.J. Odgaard and Y. Wang; and Model Study on the Stability of Riprap Placed in Local Scour Holes at Bridge Piers, A.C. Parola, Jr, J.S. Jones and A.C. Miller.
