FRAGILE FOUNDATIONS

This article reviews the current state of America's infrastructure. A "report card" on the condition of the nation's public works is presented, and the grades are not exemplary. Eight categories of public works are graded as follows: Highways C+, Mass Transit C-, Aviation B-, Water Resources B, Water Supply B-, Wastewater C, Solid Waste C-, Hazardous Waste D. A full-page chart details each of the above public works and the reasons for their respective grades. The article offers a strategy for improving America's public works.
