LYON-SATOLAS AIRPORT EXPANDS TO MEET TRAFFIC GROWTH, WINTER OLYMPICS INFLUX

Lyon-Satolas International Airport has taken a construction program to meet the growing traffic flow resulting from the industrial expansion and the 1992 Winter Olympics. A part of the plan is the construction of a railroad station for France's TGV high-speed train on the airport gropunds. Airline service between Lyon and Paris has represented about 30 % of the airport's total traffic. With competition from the TGV, officials expect this segment to account for only 12 % of airport's overall passenger flow in 1990.
