STATE REGULATION OF MOTOR CARRIERS IN A DEREGULATED TRANSPORTATION ENVIRONMENT

The public policy question raised in this paper is what effect federal deregulation will have on state regulation and on state economies. A methodology is explicated for addressing the relationships between interstate deregulation and state regulation of intrastate transportation markets. The study results are presented, followed by a discussion of the findings, overall conclusions, and implications for public policy and future research.
