DEVELOPMENTS IN STREET TRAFFIC FROM 1975 TO 1988 FROM A STATISTICAL VIEWPOINT
This is a report on the statistical aspects of road traffic in West Germany, continuing the analysis by the Federal Motor Vehicle Board begun in 1971. Since individual road traffic and the density of traffic are rising, the number of traffic asccidents is incresing nearly proportionally to the development of the rolling stock and the qualitity of driving. A small positive development seems to be seen in the rate of accidents by drunken drivers. It may be that this is a result of information campaigns. Nevertheless, each driver under the influence of alcohol has to expect particularly severe consequences from an accident.
