MBTA CALL-A-LIFT BUS PROGRAM
This article relates the history of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's (MBTA) demand-response bus system called The Ride, and citizens attempts at improved access for all handicapped riders who desired to utilize this mode of transportation. Topics covered in the article include: implementation of MBTA's call-a-lift program; program statistics; comparisons with other lift-bus programs; problems of lift-bus programs; and lift-bus user views.
