MARTA ADDING 9 NEW STATIONS THROUGH 1997
This article describes the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), which began in 1965 and hopes to add nine more stations and almost 15 more miles of track by the end of 1997. Bankhead, Doraville, Kensington and Indian Creek stations are all under construction, with the first two due to open in 1992 and the other two in 1993. By 1995, the North Line will be extended seven miles, with new stations at Buckhead, Medical Center and Dunwoody. By 1997, another 1.8 miles will be added with new stations at Sandy Springs and North Springs. The article describes the specifics of each planned station, including costs and proposed facilities. Includes a color map of the MARTA system.
