SUBMERGED TRACK GETS FAST LIFT
This article describes how the Argentine Railways solved a serious flooding problem by elevating long stretches of track. Photos show the steps involved in bring track out of water to a place above the highest flood level. Equipment used included a rubber-tired back-hoe; a rubber-tired combination tractor motor grader; a road roller; a hydraulically activated, three-section track-panel gantry system; and the normal kinds of track-laying and surfacing equipment. Includes details on the steps involved in the actual elevation process.
