STRUCTURAL RATINGS OF OUTDOOR LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

Methods for determining in-service loads and procedures for applying this information in the rating of luminaires and structures are presented. Many commonly accepted design conditions are utilized, including dead weight vibrations, wind coefficient of drag, projected area, wind velocity, height factor, and gust factor. The following three systems for presenting load rating information are described: the weight and raw projected area system; the weight and effective projected area system; and a letter classification system.
