This paper addresses some of the issues and developments in the land use transport interaction that have taken place in the last two decades. It starts with a brief description of some of the developments and causes. Urban policy changes and the likely impacts of the information revolution are considered next. It then introduces some of the basic concepts needed to quantify the interaction, discussing developments in their quantification. This leads into consideration of developments in planning tools; models, data bases and survey methods (A).
