'MOVA' EQUIPMENT USER GUIDE. TRRL APPLICATION GUIDE

MOVA (Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation) is the new signal control strategy researched and developed by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory for isolated (uncoordinated) road traffic intersections. The method is implemented by equipment based upon a microprocessor, which can be connected to any modern United Kingdom traffic signal controller. The MOVA strategy has been fully described elsewhere (see IRRD 816386). Included in this equipment guide are: (1) a description of the hardware; (2) how to install the equipment; (3) an explanation of some features of the MOVA operating software; (4) a description of the MOVA communications programs; (5) specification of MOVA online messages; (6) specification of MOVA online messages; (7) specification of MOVA fault conditions; and (8) a guide to checking the equipment and the operation of MOVA when installed. THis Application Guide is one of a series of three which together provide the user with detailed information on the MOVA method, its application and use. For Application Guides 10 and 11 see IRRD nos 829536 and 829537.
