CLASSIFICATION OF BULK GOODS BASED ON MEASUREMENT METHODS

Measuring the properties of particles, bulk goods and bulk goods affected by external conditions, is a prerequistite and a secure foundation for a qualitative and quantitative analysis and for the optimal design of systems for storage, handling, packaging and transportation. The design is optimal with reference to: reliable function, low energy requirements and improved environment. The aim of this report is to outline methods of measurement in the laboratory, with results which are easily reproducible and independent of the operator, for a classification of various types of bulk goods by degree of storage difficulty, as well as in handling, packaging and transportation. Today we already have methods and instruments such as the "direct" unconfined compressive strength tester, the tensile strength tester and a blender with self-fluidization tester. Measurement of the most important characteristics of bulk goods is now possible. Earlier measurements were made without any regard to exterior conditions.
