COORDINATION OF COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS FOR PLANNING AND PLANT MANAGEMENT FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT. THE BISON PROJECT
BISON. ERFARENHETER AV ETT TYSKT PROJEKT FOER SAMORDNING AV DATORSYSTEM INOM KOLLEKTIVTRAFIKEN
The West German system BISON (a computer program system for traffic management, planning and road user information) has been studied in this project. The objective of the BISON project, as well as the experiences of creating a system of compatible programs arranged around a common data bank, is very interesting. The development of other competitive systems on the market, however, increases the demand for general standards for data formats. In Sweden, the Swedish Public Transport Association amongst others has started to develop a common data base standard. With the German experiences in mind, a Swedish development should recognize the need of a standardized data model and the need for creating an organization able to develop data standards continously.
