PROVISION OF ROAD TRAFFIC INFORMATION BY THE USE OF UNCOMPLICATED METHODS - A PILOT STUDY
VAEGTRAFIKINFORMATION MED ENKEL TEKNIK. FOERUTSAETTNINGAR - FOERSTUDIE
The main purpose of the project is to create a basis for an evaluation of the importance of traffic information in areas with moderate traffic intensity as well as to judge how uncomplicated technique and methods can meet the information needs. This pilot study discusses suitable methodologies for such an evaluation. Furthermore data on travel patterns by car are analysed to obtain an indication of the trip frequency for different categories of drivers and their exposure in a variety of traffic environments. Types of information during different phases of a trip are also discussed. Further, the report gives an overview of the current status concerning traffic information systems.
