FORGING NEW PROJECT VALUE CHAIN - PRADIGM SHIFT

An enhanced systemic and prcess-oriented soft systems thinking approach offers an opportunity to raise the understanding of the process of project management. It is a complement to the well tested traditional systems approach. A synthesis of a number of well known methodologies for strategic planning and managerial analysis is developed that leads to the proposal of a generic project value chain. The value chain is made up of seven critical supportive factors for achieveing excellence in project management. Emphasis is placed on the human side of project management such as leadership, management style, human-resource management, culture, and shared value, in addition to the traditional emphasis on structure and systems.
