MICROCOMPUTER ANALYSIS OF GUYED TOWERS AS LATTICES
The paper presents a methodology for analyzing guyed towers. Three configuraions were considered: Warren, X-braced, and Vierendeel. The analytical procedure includes the nonlinear effects of guy-tower interaction. Individual member forces are obtained negating the use of equivalent continuum concepts. The process has been programmed for a microcomputer. Using this tool, the designer can concentrate on behavioral characteristics of guyed towers and routinely evaluate various alternatives in design and configuration.
