UPLIFT CAPACITY OF Z-PURLINS
This is a discussion of an analytical solution to the problem of purlins subject to uplift load. An analytical solution is presented for calculating the load capacity of a cold-formed steel roof system composed of interconnected sheet steel panels directly attached by through fasteners to the flange of a Z-shaped structural member subject to wind uplift. A reasonably good correlation was obtained between the failure stress computed by the analytical approach and the available test data.
