CONSISTENT FRAME BUCKLING ANALYSIS BY FINITE ELEMENT METHOD
An attempt is made to develop a physical link between the fundamental mechanics equations and the corresponding finite element procedures. First, the governing equations and cross-sectional forces for deformed structural members is presented, followed by a summary of the definitions for various applied moments. An important aspect is the inclusion of moment rotational effects in constructing the compatibility equations for structural joints with connected members. The enforcement of the interelement compatibility for sturctural memmbers in the deformed state enables one to derive a joint matrix for internally generated moments, and a moment matrix for externally applied moments, in addition to the elastic and geometric stiffness matrices.
