A LOOK AT WHAT SOME STATES ARE DOING. WIRE BRIDGE DEDICATED AS HISTORIC LANDMARK IN MAINE

The article describes the Wire Bridge in New Portland, Maine. The 124-year old bridge is the oldest wire cable suspension bridge in use in the Northeast. It is estimated that the costs of building the 200-ft long bridge was under $6,700. It is noted that this wire bridge and 9 other historic covered bridges in Maine, were all built to improve travel; designed to withstand weather, traffic and time; and built at affordable costs.
