SERVICE LEVELS ON INTER-CITY COACHES IN SOUTH AFRICA

Four researchers assessed the levels of service on 34 journey of various inter-city coach operations in South Africa. Although these assessments were necessarily subjective, the operators Mainliner and Citiliner appeared to offer a high level of service, with some Greyhound and Translux services also providing services of good quality. Problem areas identified on some services included: temperature control in the coaches; punctuality; lack of seating and shelter at some terminals; and inattentive staff.
