MIXED LAND USE AND RESIDENTIAL SATISFACTION: AN EVALUATION. DEMONSTRATION AND MONITORING OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENERGY POLICIES - NATIONAL ENERGY RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM; END OF GRANT REPORT

Results from a survey indicate that residents in an old inner city mixed land use area experience the same high level of neighborhood satisfaction as residents in a middle suburb and an outer suburb where land use is rigidly separated. The evidence suggests that those in the more mixed urban area trade off factors such as their dwelling and neighborhood spaciousness for their proximity to facilities. Some directions for urban planning are suggested (A). This is also Murdoch University. School of Environmental and Biological Life Sciences Transport Research Paper, No: 2/88.
