This article emphasizes the importance of adequate drainage for pavement construction by describing the various ways in which moisture can enter the foundation of a pavement and the effects of such an influence. The author then explores the benefits of such solutions as the Full-Depth asphalt pavement, longitudinal underdrains and permeable bases, both treated and untreated, before suggesting methods of determining and implementing necessary rehabilitation for existing structures.
