MARINE HYDRAULICS
There is an ever-increasing use of hydraulics in marine applications. The ship designer, operator, and maintainer will need to become more knowledgeable of the fundamentals of this phase of engineering. This paper discusses these fundamentals in an elementary way and specifically pinpoints some areas that have been troublesome in the experience of the authors. The discussion is valuable for the conceptual, design, installation, and maintenance phases of the hydraulic system. It should be of particular interest to engineering management personnel.
