JOINT SEALANT MATERIALS FOR CONCRETE PAVEMENT REPAIRS
This report on joint sealant materials for concrete pavement repairs is based on conversations with specialists from several states, the Federal Highway Administration, the Portland Cement Association, and the American Concrete Pavement Association, and on a review of the literature. It lightly covers material properties, costs, and the experience with silicones on I-81 over the past few years. Appendix A is a copy of the AASHTO-AGR-ARTBA "Joint and Crack Resealing," Chapter 3, "Guide Procedures for Concrete Pavement 4R Operations," which provides an overview of the resealing of joints and cracks in existing portland cement concrete pavements. Appendix B is a copy of the Georgia Department of Transportation's most recent specifications dealing with silicone joint sealants, which are frequently cited as a model for this material.
