A TRANSVERSE PROFILER USING LASER-BEAM-CARRIED MICROWAVE-INTERFEROMETRY

This report documents the design, construction and successful testing of a prototype transverse profiler based on the theory of laser-beam-carried microwave-interferometry. Implementation of such a profiler would priovide a rapid, economical, reliable, and repeatable means of measuring pavement rutting. The measurement system may be carried in a vehicle operating at normal highway speeds. The basic parameter measured is the highway transverse profile.
