YOUR STREETS WERE ON TRIAL AT THE NATIONAL ROAD TEST

This booklet describes the $27 million National Road Test carried out with the cooperation of the nation's leading highway specialists. It was Sponsored by the American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHO), and paid for by the states, Puerto Rico, the Bureau of Public Roads, the Automobile Manufacturers Association, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Department of Defense. Includes descriptions of the various tests carried out between 1958 and 1960 on test pavements located near Ottawa, Illinois. Summarizes the serviceability, performance, overload capacity, and resistance to spring break-up and rutting for numerous test sections under the conditions that existed at the Road Test.
